Course Introduction

The transition from a traditional linear economy—based on the “take, make, use and dispose” model—to a Circular Economy represents a fundamental shift in the way organizations manage resources, products, materials and waste. Circular economy principles aim to maximize resource efficiency, extend product and material lifecycles, minimize waste generation, and create economic value while reducing environmental impacts.

This five-day training programme provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of circular economy principles and practical approaches to waste reduction, resource efficiency, reuse, recycling, recovery and sustainable production and consumption. The programme explores how organizations can identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, redesign processes, improve waste management practices and integrate circular thinking into business and operational strategies.

Participants will also examine practical tools, performance indicators, circular business models and implementation approaches that can support organizations in moving toward more sustainable and resource-efficient operations.

Course Objectives

At the end of the programme, participants should be able to:

  1. Explain the concepts, principles and drivers of the Circular Economy.
  2. Distinguish between linear and circular economic models.
  3. Assess organizational resource consumption and waste generation.
  4. Identify opportunities for waste prevention and resource optimization.
  5. Apply circular economy principles to operational and business processes.
  6. Understand circular business models and value creation opportunities.
  7. Develop practical waste reduction and circularity strategies.
