Course Description :
The Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is an advanced, practical training programme designed to enhance participants’ situational awareness and preparedness when operating in high-risk, hostile, or unpredictable environments.
The course equips participants with essential tools, techniques, and behavioural strategies to effectively anticipate, avoid, and respond to critical and potentially life-threatening situations in the field. Through realistic simulations, scenario-based exercises, and practical field applications, participants will develop the confidence and competence to operate safely under pressure.
Course Objectives :
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of proactive security principles before, during, and after deployment.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in conflict or high-threat environments.
- Apply appropriate behavioural responses in critical and emergency situations.
- Enhance personal resilience and stress tolerance under operational pressure.
- Utilize field navigation, communication, and survival techniques effectively.
- Implement basic security protocols aligned with international mission standards (UN, OSCE, EU).
Target Audience :
This programme is designed for:
- Personnel selected for or deployed to peacekeeping missions
- Humanitarian aid workers and field operatives
- Staff operating in low, medium, and high-risk environments
